Generic Fosamax
(Generic name: Alendronate)
Drug Uses Fosamax
Fosamax is used in the treatment and
prevention of steroid induced or postmenopausal osteoporosis. Paget’s disease is treated with this medication also.
How Taken Fosamax
Take with a 8 ounce glass of water in morning 30 minutes before taking any other medicine or eating.
Fosamax is usually taken once daily.
Warnings/Precautions
If you are unable to stand or sit in upright position for 30 minutes after taking Fosamax,
you should avoid taking. Problems can occur if you lie down to soon after dosage.
Do not
crush or chew Fosamax tablets.
Fosamax Missed Dose
If morning dosage is missed do not take when remembered, wait until the next morning to continue regularly.
Fosamax - Possible Side Effects
Upset stomach, heartburn, diarrhea, constipation, and gas, headache pain in jaw and pain or difficulty swallowing.
Storage
Keep at a room temperature.
Overdose
Is suspect to an overdose of Fosamax drink immediately a glass full of milk and contact poison
control or go directly to the emergency room.
More Information
No other medications should be taken including antacids, vitamins or calcium for 30 minutes at
least after taking your dose of Fosamax.
Fosamax should not be taken with these beverages tea,
juice, coffee or mineral water. Only plain water.
