Generic Prilosec
(Generic name: Omeprazole)
Prilosec Uses
Generic Prilosec (Omeprazole) is used to treat intestinal ulcers as well as sever
chronic inflammation of the esophagus and esophageal reflux disease.
How Taken
Adults should take 20 mg per day to start. For the treatment of increased
stomach acid production, up to 60mg per day is usually prescribed.
Prilosec Precautions
While there are no specific problems noted in individuals over the age of 60,
do not drive or operate heavy machinery until it is determined how the
medication will affect you. Avoid alcohol.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose of Generic Prilosec, take it as soon as you remember,
unless it’s close to the next scheduled dose. In this case, skip the missed
dose and resume your regular dosing schedule.
Prilosec Side Effects
No serious side effects are associated with Generic Prilosec. Less common
side effects may include diarrhea, vomiting, headache, constipation, dizziness and stomach pain.
If you experience any of these symptoms, call your doctor immediately.
Storage
Store in a tightly sealed container away from heat and direct light.
Prilosec Overdose
Blurred vision, confusion, profuse sweating, drowsiness, dry mouth, headache or
rapid heart beat are indications of an overdose. Seek medical treatment immediately.
More Information
Take Generic Prilosec for the full treatment period prescribed even if you feel
better before the end of therapy. The decision to stop taking the drug should be made by your doctor.
