Provera, Cycrin Uses
Generic Provera (Medroxyprogesterone)
is used to treat primary amenorrhea,
(not being able to begin menstruation) and secondary amenorrhea,
(the cessation of menstruation before menopause).
Provera, used in combination with other medications, is also used to treat abnormal bleeding of the uterus.
How Taken
Women who are being treated for abnormal bleeding of the uterus should take 2.5mg
to 5mg once a day for five to ten days or as prescribed by a doctor.
For the treatment of amenorrhea, follow your doctor's instructions and let him know if you·ve missed one or more doses.
Provera Precautions
Generic Provera should not be taken by women who are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
There is an increased risk of dementia in those women over the age of 65.
Generic Provera should not be used by women who have had or are currently being treated for breast cancer.
Missed Dose
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose
and continue with your regular dosing schedule.
Provera, Cycrin Side Effects
Serious side effects of Provera may include the development and passing of blood clots and difficulty
in controlling blood sugar in diabetic patients. These should be reported to your doctor
immediately as he may need to adjust the dosage.
Storage
Store in a tightly sealed container and keep away from heat, moisture and direct light.
Provera Overdose
There are no known cases reported.
More Information
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or nursing, smoke cigarettes or have been or are now
being treated for Type I or Type II Diabetes. Certain medications may increase the breakdown of Generic Provera.
Therefore, be sure to notify your doctor of any other medications you might be taking including herbal medicines.
