Generic Vibramycin
(Generic name: Doxycycline)
Vibramycin Uses
Generic Vibramycin (Doxycycline) is used to treat mild to severe bacterial
infections, including those of the urinary tract, sexually
transmitted diseases and Lyme disease.
How Taken
For adults: 100mg every 12 hours for the first day, then 100 to 200mg once per day.
For sexually transmitted diseases, 100mg twice a day for three day.
For Lyme disease a 100mg tablet should be taken once a day for one to two days prior to traveling.
Vibramycin Precautions
Adverse reactions such as itching in genital and anala areas may be more
common among older patients than in younger patients.
Avoid alcohol
while taking Generic Vibramycin.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose of Generic Vibramycin take it as soon as you remember,
unless it’s close to the next scheduled dose. In this case, skip the missed
dose and resume your regular dosing schedule.
Vibramycin Side Effects
Chest pain, increased pressure in the head, causing confusion, sleepiness
and headache, allergic reaction causing severe headache, vision changes,
itching, swelling difficulty breathing, severe rash, abdominal pain and
diarrhea are serious side effects and should be reported to your doctor immediately.
Storage
Store in a tightly sealed container away from heat and direct light.
Vibramycin Overdose
Nausea, vomiting and diarrhea can indicate an overdose. Seek medical treatment immediately.
More Information
Dairy products can decrease absorption of Generic Vibramycin.
Take the medication two hours after or one hour before consuming dairy products.
Avoid meals and iron fortified cereals for two hours before and after taking Generic Vibramycin.
