Generic Zanaflex
(Generic name: Tizanidine)
Zanaflex Uses
Generic Zanaflex (Tizanidine) is used to relieve muscle spasticity and cramping associated
with multiple sclerosis and spinal cord injuries.
How Taken
Adults should initially take 4mg every six to eight hours.
This dosage may be increased as needed in 2 to 4mg increments up
to 8mg every six to eight hours until a satisfactory therapeutic effect is achieved.
Zanaflex Precautions
Adverse reactions may be more likely or more sever in patients over sixty.
Do not drive or operate machinery until it is determined how the Zanaflex will affect you.
Avoid alcohol.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is close
to the time for your next regularly scheduled dose. In that case, skip
the dose and resume your regular dosage schedule. Do not double the next dose.
Zanaflex Side Effects
Liver damage, causing nausea and vomiting, loss of appetite and a
yellowish tinge to the eyes and skin are serious side effects
and must be reported to your doctor immediately.
Storage
Store in tightly sealed container and keep away from heat and direct light.
Zanaflex Overdose
Loss of consciousness and respiratory depression has been noted in rare
cases of an overdose. Seek emergency medical treatment.
More Information
Consult your doctor if you are taking oral contraceptive or any other
prescription drugs, especially those that produce sedation as a side effect.
