Zoloft Uses
Generic Zoloft (Sertraline)
is used to treat signs of major depress,
obsessive-compulsive disorder and panic disorder.
How Taken
To starts, adults should take 50mg once per day in the morning or evening.
This dose may be gradually increased by your doctor up to 200mg as he sees fit.
Zoloft Precautions
Adverse reactions may be more likely and more severe in patients over the age of sixty.
Do not drive or engage in hazardous work until you determine how the drug will affect you.
Avoid alcohol.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is within two
hours of your next scheduled dose. In that case, skip the dose and resume your
regular dosage schedule. Do not double the next dose.
Zoloft Side Effects
Skin rash, hives or itching; sometimes unusually fast speech, fever, extreme
agitation and dilated pupils are serious side effects and should be
reported to your doctor immediately.
Storage
Store in tightly sealed container and keep away from heat and direct light.
Zoloft Overdose
Sleepiness, nausea, vomiting, rapid heartbeat, anxiety and dilated pupils
indicate on overdose has been taken.
Call your nearest poison control center
and seek medical treatment as soon as possible.
More Information
Generic Zoloft and MAO inhibitors
should not be sued within 14 days of each other
as serious side effects such as myocluonus (uncontrolled muscle spasms), hyperthermia
(excessive rise in body temperature) and extreme stiffness can occur.
