
Generic Aciphex
(Generic name: Raberprazole Sodium)
Drug Uses
Generic Aciphex is used for the treatment of
conditions caused by acid such as ulcers of the stomach and duodenum,
erosive or ulcerative gastroesophegeal reflux disease and in treating an over production of acid caused by
tumors, a condition called Zollinge-Ellison Syndrome.
How Taken
For healing ulcerative or erosive GERD, the recommended dose for adults is 20mg daily for 4 to 8 weeks.
Warnings-Precautions
If healing does nto occur after 9 weeks, another 8 week course may be considered.
There have been reports of an increase in the effect of the blood thinner coumadin by Aciphex,
which theoretically could lead to increased bleeding. Patients taking coumadin should be
monitored more frequently if they begin taking Generic Aciphex.
Missed Dose
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember unless the next scheduled dose is within the next two hours.
If so, do not take the missed dose. Skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule.
Do not double the next dose.
Possible Side Effects
Aciphex, like other PPIs has few side effects.
Common side effects are diarrhea nausea and vomiting, constipation, rash and headaches.
These conditions should be reported to your doctor immediately.
Storage Aciphex
Store in a tightly sealed container and keep away from heat, moisture and direct light.

Tablets should be swallowed whole and not crushed or chewed.
Generic Aciphex can be taken with our without food as food has little effect on its absorption.
The absorption of certain drugs may be affected by changes in stomach acidity.
Aciphex may reduce the elimination of cyclosporine in the liver, thereby increasing cyclosporine
levels in the blood and potentially lead to cyclosporin toxicity.
