Generic Advil
(Generic name: Ibuprofen)
Advil Uses
Generic Advil is used to treat mild to moderate pain and inflammation caused by tendonitis, arthritis,
bursitis, gout, soft tissue injuries, migraine and other vascular headaches, menstrual cramps and other conditions.
It is also used to reduce fever.
How Taken
For mile to moderate pain, take 200 to 400mg every 4 to six hours; not to exceed 1200mg in any 24 hour period.
Warnings & Precautions
Because of the potentially greater consequences of gastrointestinal side effects, doses of
Generic Advil for older patients is often cut in half. Do not drive or take part in hazardous
activities until you know how the medication will affect you.
Avoid alcohol as it may increase the
risk of stomach irritation.
Missed Dose
Take the missed dose of Advil as soon as you remember unless it is near your next dose.
In this case, skip the missed does and resume your normal schedule.
Advil Side Effects
Shortness of breath, wheezing, with or without swelling of legs or other signs of heart failure,
chest pain, peptic ulcer disease with vomiting of blood; black, tarry stools, decreasing kidney
function are all serious side effects and should be reported to your doctor immediately.
Storage
Store Advil in a tightly sealed container and keep away from heat, moisture and direct light.
Overdose
Severe nausea, vomiting, headache and confusion are signs of an overdose.
Seek medical attention right away.
More Information
Do not take Generic Advil with any other aspirin or any other NSAIDs without your doctor’s approval.
In addition, consult your doctor if you are taking antihypertensives, steroids, anticoagulants, antibiotics,
lithium or zidovudine.
