Drug Uses
Generic Benadryl is used to treat
and relive hay fever symptoms, itching skin and hives, motion sickness, nonproductive cough due to cold or
hay fever and sleeping difficulty.
How Taken Benadryl
Adults should take 25mg to 50mg every four to six hours as needed for relief.
Children ages 6 – 12 years should take 12.5 to 25 mg every four to six hours.
Precautions/Warnings this medicine
Benadryl may cause more adverse reactions in those patients over the age of 60.
Do not drive or perform hazardous tasks until it is determined how the drug will affect you.
Alcohol may increase the likelihood and severity of side effects such as drowsiness and confusion.
Missed Dose
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and
continue with your regular dosing schedule.
Benadryl Side Effects
No serious side effects are associated with Generic Benadryl.
However, drowsiness, dry mouth nausea and thickening of mucus are common side effects and must be tolerated.
Storage
Store in a tightly sealed container and keep away from heat, moisture and direct light.
Overdose
Marked drowsiness, dilated and sluggish pupils, combativeness, excessive excitability, breathing interruptions,
confusion, loss of coordination, weak pulse, fever, seizures, and loss of consciousness will indicate that
an overdose has been administered. Seek medical assistance immediately.
