Generic Cardura
(Generic name: Doxazosin Mesylate)
Generic Cardura Uses
Generic Cardura is used to treat mild to moderate high blood pressure, to lower urinary tract symptoms
due to benign prostatic hyperplasia common in men over the age of 50.
How Taken
For high blood pressure, initial dose is 1mg to be taken once a day.
Gradual increases to 16mg per day. For prostate enlargement, initial dose is 1mg taken once
a day which may be gradually increased to a maximum of 12mg per day.
Warnings&Precautions
Adverse reactions may be more likely and more severe in older patients.
Dose should be increased slowly in patients over 60. Do not drive or engage in dangerous
activities until you determine how Cardura will affect you.
Missed Dose
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember unless the next scheduled dose is within the next two hours.
If so, do not take the missed dose. Skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule.
Do not double the next dose.
Possible Side Effects
Irregular heart beat is considered an extremely serious side effect and should be reported to your doctor immediately.
Dizziness and drowsiness along with headache, weakness, palpitations, rapid pulse, pain and tingling in the
fingers or toes, diarrhea, or constipation, runny nose, rash or itchy skin, muscle or joint pain, along with
mental depression are common side effects and must be tolerated.
Storage
Store in a tightly sealed container and keep away from heat, moisture and direct light.
Overdose
Cold, sweaty skin, rapid pulse, weakness, and loss of consciousness indicate an overdose.
Seek medical assistance and notify your doctor immediately.

Consult your doctor if you are taking amphetamines, other antihypertensive drugs, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs,
estrogen or sympathomimetic drugs.
