Generic Elavil Uses
Generic Elavil is used to relieve symptoms of major depression and chronic pain.
How Taken
Adults should start with 25mg two to four times a day. This may be increased to 150mg per day.
Warnings\Precautions
Adverse reactions may be more likely and more sever in older patients.
Elavil is generally not recommended, as there are safer alternatives for older patients.
A lower dose may be warranted.
Missed Dose
If you take a one-time daily bedtime dose, do not take the missed dose in the morning;
it may cause drowsiness. Call your doctor.
If you take more than one dose in a day,
take tit as soon as you remember.
If it is near the time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosage schedule.
Do not double the next dose.
Elavil, Endep Side Effects
Generic Elavil does have reported serious side effects and these should be reported to your doctor immediately.
These include confusion, heart beat irregularities, hallucinations, seizures, extreme fatigue or drowsiness,
blurred or altered vision, breathing difficulty, constipations, impaired concentration, difficult urination,
fever, extreme and persistent restlessness, loss of coordination and balance, difficulty swallowing, or speaking,
dialed pupils, eye pain, fainting and also trembling, shaking weakness and stiffness in the extremities and a
shuffling gait.
Storage
Store in a tightly sealed container away from heat and direct light.
Overdose Generic Elavil
Symptoms of an overdose may include difficulty breathing, severe fatigue, seizures,
confusion, hallucinations dilated pupils, irregular heartbeat, palpitations, fever and difficulty concentrating.
More Information
Generic Elavil is a potentially dangerous drug especially if taken in axcess.
Tricyclic antidepressants should not be within easy reach of suicidal patients.
If dry mouth occurs, use sugarless gum or candy.
